Workshop schedule 2008

 

 

Our classes are held at the farm  unless we have inclement weather. These same classes may be provided for your group at your meeting site. Classes begin at 1:00 and cost $20.00. All supplies are included.

Ask about our frequent student program- discounts for multiple classes.

 

March 15- Herbal Bath Salts and Spa Treatments- learn how to make a variety of these products for gifts or just to pamper yourself.

April 12- Spring Wreath Making-  make a seasonal wreath which will adorn your walls or table. Bow making included.

 

June 28- Herbal Teas- blend herbs to create a perfect cup of tea and enjoy a high tea in the garden

 

July 19- Herbal vinegars and oils- using herbs from the garden learn to blend the perfect herbal vinegars, marinades and dipping oils.

 

August 16- Harvesting and preserving what you have grown- how to dry herbs and preserve the flowers from your garden and how to use them

 

Sept 20- Fall decorating- Using dried natural items from the garden and woods make fall decorations for the home

 

Oct. 18- Herbal Seasoning blends- Learn to make your own herbal butters, healthy spreads and appetizers

 

Nov. 15- Decorating for the holidays- using fresh and dried materials,  learn how to make and decorate garlands, swags, and wreaths.

In addition we will have a monthly and season class; Herbs will be the focus of our Saturday afternoon classes. We will discuss culinary, cosmetic, aromatic and decorative components of each herb. We will also examine the many different varieties available, how to grow them, harvest, and dry each herb.

All classes will be $15.00, which includes goodies to take home.
Classes will be Saturdays at 1:00 PM pre-registration is required.

 

Watercolor in the Garden

We are planning 3 watercolor workshops next summer. come learn how to capture the colors of the garden with the art of watercolor. The gardens will be the perfect venue to inspire and our instructor is the perfect teacher for the novice or experienced painter.

Master Naturalist and Habitat Steward Programs

The Virginia Master Naturalist Program which reauires a volunteer component; along the same lines of the Master Gardener Program. However the training  contains ecology, geology, animals, ecosystems, natural history and several components which can be put to practice at various locations in the area Scheduled for fall 2008

 

Habitat Stewards is a training through the National Wildlife Federation-learn how to create backyard habitats either for yourself or  help create wildlfe friendly gardens in your community. ( 24 hours of volunteer hours) Scheduled for spring 2008
